When it comes to cooling a room, it is clear that air conditioning are more effective that ceiling fans, but what many people don’t understand is that the purpose of the fan is not to drastically cool the room, rather to circulate the air. Did you know that most fans also have a reverse switch and can also be used in winter to help lower the cost of heating your home.

Think about your lighting

Research has shown that lighting accounts for over 10% of our annual electricity bills and already, many people have made the switch to cost-effective LED lightbulbs. If you haven’t made the switch, maybe the fact that knowing LED’s can save up to 75% off your lighting energy use may encourage you to do so.

Unplug your appliances

Did you realise that if you leave your appliances plugged in, they are still using power even when not in use? By simply unplugging your appliances when you are not using them, you can make drastic savings to your annual power bill.
